MSPS CALL FOR EMERGENCY DEBATE IN PARLIAMENT WHEN WAR BREAKS OUT
A group of MSPs has called for the Scottish Parliament to hold an emergency debate when the war breaks out. Tabled in the name of John McAllion MSP the motion attached has so far attracted six signatories but is expected to gain many more tomorrow.
Tommy Sheridan, Scottish Socialist MSP, said,
“It is inconceivable that the Parliament should not debate the war when it breaks out which looks certain before the Parliament is dissolved. With the election coming up, we are entitled to know where the MSPs stand and we want them to state their position on the war clearly.”
MOTION:
“That the Parliament believes that the outbreak of war which seems imminent requires an emergency debate in the Parliament and calls on the Presiding Officer to schedule such a debate as soon as war breaks out, up to and including Monday 31 March.”
Signed by: John McAllion, Tommy Sheridan, Dorothy Grace Elder, Donald Gorrie, Margo MacDonald, Robin Harper MSPs[ends]
