SSP TO HOLD ALL-WOMEN PRESS CONFERENCE WED 23 APRIL

PRESS INVITATION

VENUE: LAURIE'S, KING STREET, GLASGOW

Wednesday 23 April 2003 at 11 a.m.

Subject: Women and Sex

The Press Conference will be hosted by Scottish Socialist Party women candidates at the top of the regional lists who are likely to become Members of the Scottish Parliament after May 1st.
They include Carolyn Leckie for Central Scotland; Rosie Kane, the No. 2 in Glasgow and Frances Curran for the West of Scotland.

There will be four main topics including:
* free sanitary protection
* free morning-after pill available from pharmacies
* policies to tackle domestic abuse
* child care strategy.

Frances Curran said, “The SSP is the only party in Scotland that has a commitment to equal representation for women among our MSPs. The press can no longer call the SSP a one man band and tomorrow we will showcase the many policies that the SSP has for women in every area."
