The Scottish Socialist Party today reaffirmed its support for the closure of Dungavel and backed the move by the SNP to end the imprisonment of children.
Rosie Kane MSP said:
“The Scottish Executive constantly hide behind constitutional walls while children are locked up behind prison walls.
“The psychological damage inflicted on the Ay family after a year locked up in Dungavel can never be undone.
“But we can prevent other children being damaged in the future.”
