Plan to abolish prescription charges takes step forward
Edinburgh Evening NewsSCOTTISH Socialist Colin Fox’s Bill to abolish prescription charges in Scotland is to be sent out for consultation.
Mr Fox, a Lothians list MSP, has already won cross-party support in the Scottish Parliament for his proposed legislation to end the charges of £6.30 per item, which he has branded a tax on illness.

SSP will attempt to abolish council tax in 2004
The HeraldTommy Sheridan, Scottish Socialist party leader, said 2004 would see the end of council tax in Scotland. He said: "We will present a bill to abolish the council tax in the parliament and replace it with an income-based alternative. It will be the flagship proposal in a year which will also attack poverty."
